Traditions That Even A Cynic Could Love

I read the summary of this book on ParentsDigest.com and thought - wow, a book that helps me develop my own family traditions instead of relying on the old (and somewhat tired) traditions from my youth. I love their suggestions and have already started creating some fun new traditions with my own family. Even after reading the summary this was a book I wanted to buy and keep so many good ideas.

A creative way to recreate family life

No matter what type of family you have, even if it's a non-traditional family, this book will open up ideas for you to create your own family culture. In an age where people are becoming disconnected from each other...the ideas in The Book of New Family Traditions can be used in many different communities.

    A Great Place to Start

I grew up celebrating many rituals with my family, but they mostly revolved around my mother's religious beliefs. Although I loved, and now missed, the rituals of my youth, I didn't share my mother's beliefs, and imitating her rituals left me feeling like a fraud. I was longing for something of my own, something that didn¿t feel forced or fake, when my sister bought me this book. I love it. I have used many of Meg's ideas over the years. The book is written in such a way that I never felt pressured to exactly follow her instructions. It¿s a place to start. It's about creating your own rituals, and how important it is to make them simple, so you can enjoy them again and again, instead of feeling as if they¿re just another holiday obligation. Thanks Sis and thanks Meg.

    Good Inspiration

Most creative on how to invest family life with every day rituals. we might not think of of them as riturals but they are. That's what I like about this book. Gave me new ideas.

A wonderful addition to any family's library

I am very happy to have this book. I consult it with each holiday and often implement ideas I've read about. For example, last Thanksgiving, we made a gratitude display, using a lovely vase of sticks and homemade maple leaves with our messages written on them. It was lovely and meaningful. Not only does this book provide me with great ideas it also acts as a springboard to help me come up with my own ideas for new family traditions.

    I recommend this helpful book.

I recommend this book as a good resource for holiday traditions to start with your family. I have a 4-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. We've enjoyed incorporating many of the traditions in this book into our family.
