Not very romantic...

I am an avid reader of romance novels, I go through a couple a week and have for about 10 years now so I consider myself to be pretty open minded and have read all types. This book though entertaining was not romantic to me. It literally was about half the book before the main characters were actually introduced to each other. There was very little romance or chemistry between them, it seemed more just fiction than a romance novel. Though I liked the plot, the heroine had more interaction with household servants than she did the hero. I would say if you are looking for a somewhat entertaining book this might work for you, but if you want a real historical romance novel I would look elsewhere.

    A Keeper! Brave Heroine!

Laurie Halliot was the eldest daughter of a Scottish march warden. When her step-sister, May, was accused of murder and ran off, Laurie agreed to be a willing hostage until May came forth and the truth was revealed. To protect her honor, it was also agreed that she be 'handfasted' to the man who was to keep her prisoner, Sir Hugh Graham of Brackengill.

Hugh was no happier about it than Laurie. But his uncle's widow, Lady Marjory Graham of Brampton, was currently in his residence and could make Laurie comfortable and be her companion. Not to mention it would get the widow out of his hair! Oh, she was kind-hearted, but she was smothering him with her kindness!

Now if only they could keep their hands off each other until May was found!

*** Great plot and wonderfully made characters that will not be forgotten quickly. Amanda Scott has written a story that will entertain romance readers by day and leave them with starry dreams by night! ***
