This is a great entry in a terrific police procedural romantic urban fantasy series

A serial killer is on the loose with the culprit's modus operendi being the beheading of vampires; not an easy task to achieve yet the psychopath seems to do it quite easily. Guardian Riley Jensen investigates the homicides when a second case surfaces. Someone is snuffing out human females with not the slightest trace of violence. The locals are in a feeding frenzy of fear.

Her personal life is even more out of control since her werewolf soulmate Kye Murphy has returned. She wants no part of the amoral mercenary, but the sexual pull is devastating. Even her millennium old suave lover Quinn the vampire may not be enough to keep Kye from her. However, investigating the case might prove the answer to eluding her desire for her soulmate.

Bi-species hybrid Riley continues to be pulled in two conflicting directions externally between the vampires and the werewolves, and internally her soul. She makes the BOUND TO SHADOWS superb; as she investigates the serial killing beheadings while being pulled between two lovers, her bad ass werewolf soulmate and her urbane vampire heart's mate. This is a great entry in a terrific police procedural romantic urban fantasy series (see Darkest Kiss).

When she has this wonderfully understanding vampire in her life(Quinn), who she "loves" and don't deserve. No matter how Riley's emotions were being explained, I did not like that about this book...It's one thing to lust, to love, to bed different men but not put this way! The author made her a whore. My first and last book from her.Show Less

    Very Disappointed!!

There was so much potential with the storyline of having Riely's actual soul mate in the running for her heart. I found Kye to be the dangerous man Riely needs in her life to counter the tameness of Quinn. Arthur took Kye's posessive behavior and turned it into that of a psychotic and at the same time she turned Quinn into a very uninteresting character. Without the intrigue of who Riely will spend her life with, the series has lost something for me and I most likely will not be continuing with the series.

I am done with this series.

After book #7, I was so excited for this book. I loved the series and the world that Arthur created, but I was ultimately disappointed with the direction Arthur took the storyline. After book #7, the potential storylines were endless...in this book, she just killed them all. I am done with the series...no doubt about it...(After #7, I found Kye to be a more more interesting match for Riley. Mysterious, Dangerous, Her actual Soul Mate...then Arthur turned him into a crazed lunatic in #8...Where did that come from?)

I just couldn't get into it

I just couldn't get into this book. The fight scenes in previous books where drawn out for too long and the only fight moves she knows are sweeping her leg out and punching. You would think since she is working for a government run law enforcement they would teach them different martial arts skills. I love my love scenes as much as the next person but I am sooooo tired of Riley wanting to screw everybody she meets when she has a sexy vampire at home waiting for her who she thinks is her soul mate of her vampire half.

Loved it! Love all the books in this series.

Great books. I loved her story line and the romance seemed realistic even though its supernatural. A good read if you are looking for an escape. Its an action packed romantic thriller. I liked the way Keri Arthur moves the story line fast and does not linger on too many details-just stays on the facts and necessary details.

    Unique and Exciting

This series is like nothing I have read before. This is not your typical boy/girl fall in love or in this case werewolf/vampire fall in love, deny their attraction, sucumb and live happily ever after. Oh no, this is so much more. Riley Jenson has an insatiable appetite for most things male and in this series it works. This series is so action packed you'll never find yourself speed reading to get to the good parts. And while there is nothing "traditional" about this paranormal love story you'll find yourself rooting for one character and hoping they'll fall in love just to change your mind in the next chapter. Sookie Stackhouse fans this is a must.

    Riley Jenson Series #8

I really enjoy this series & anyone who likes lots of action werewolves, vampires etc will also enjoy this series. Riley has been through so much & rolls with the punches very well I might add. I love the attraction between her & Quinn (he is one romantic vampire). I can't wait for the next book. I don't want to spoil the series for others but it definately is one of my favorites along side the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series.

    I Can't Get Enough!

I have loved this entire series, and I think that part of that is due to the excellent characters involved. I also feel as though the plot is still evolving, and I can't wait to read the next book! If you enjoy paranormal romances, this is the series for you!! They are my all-time favorites!

If you like Riley, you will definitely also like Laurell K. Hamilton's series involving Anita! Also Lori Handeland has some pretty good werewolf tales in her Nightcreature series!
