Help from UCLA Expert
When I was first diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, my friends gave me this wonderful resource. Reading that book gave me a tremendous peace of mind. Dr. Chan had answers to questions that I didn't even know to ask. I felt relieved when I read that there has been much advancement in recent years and many options to consider in treatment. Then I went through biopsy, lumpectomy, follow-up radiation, and then started Arimidex my treatment went exactly as he described. I re-read those sections that pertained to me they were informative and technical, with supporting studies and statistics. Most importantly, there was always a positive, warm tone. Dr. Chan was my guide through an anxious period. This book should be everyone's companion through a scary process. I have purchased this book for my friends who have breast cancer and for their families to understand what's going on.

Very Useful Book
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in late September a friend loaned me three of her preferred books on the subject. This one was the most helpful by far of these books and of other books and sites I went to. It addressed questions and issues I was actually having in a clear, no-nonsense manner. I've bought a copy for my sister-in-law who went through the breast cancer experience a year ago but didn't have all the information that was in this book. It's hard to express how valuable it was for me to have access to the kind of information it includes, in some cases before I even thought to ask the questions.

A handbook for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer
As a physician, I found it very easy to read and helpful in demystifying breast cancer, outlining therapies and staging. This has been very helpful to my family and friends since my recent diagnosis.

Easier, better read than Dr Love's Breast Book
As someone newly diagnosed, I found this book to be a faster read, easier to understand and more to the point than Dr. Love's Breast Book, which everyone told me to get. This is smaller, cheaper and doesn't overwhelm you with unnecessary information. He is currently practicing in the field at UCLA. I found his book realistic and more helpful than other information/books.
