Great Book Jane!
I suppose I'm a bit biased because I know the author. I also had the opportunity in knowing what was going on in 'real time' since Jane kept me informed of her travels. We met originally in Washington DC at an ACLU membership convention. From the start I knew Jane was a go getter. I see her as a contemporary Molly Brown, unsinkable and unshakable, especially in her resolve to seek the truth. This book is a reflection of that. A must read for those of us who know little about the Middle East, it's people, its history, its beauty and its suffering.

What is it really like in the Baghdad Green Zone...
If you want to find out, read the chapter on Iraq. And I also recommend the one on Afghanistan and the one on Mecca.... It's almost like actually being there! After reading this book, you will imagine that you yourself have been to these countries and personally experienced the truth of what it is like to be in many places in the Middle East that usually are only accessible by joining the Army. There's also a nice, safe and enjoyable tour of Egypt for you to go on at the beginning of the book -- as well as a blow-by-blow description of what it is like to go to Mecca on Hajj. The author tells about her adventures in such a readable manner that you will be entertained as well as informed.
