    Romance is Alive and Well

This is the type of book that men should have in their collection. Who said that Romance is dead? This book has stories that are both sensitive and sensual, as well as raw and sexual. Gentlemen, read these stories to your Queens, or have her read to you. Either way, you'll enjoy the results.

A book to always remember and refer to your girlfriends!

This book was absolutely wonderful. A great book to curl up with;so much that you wont want to put it down. I was attracted to the writing styles of each author. The book speaks volumes of love, sex and romanticism on many many many different levels. Trust me at the end of this book you will be not only aroused but physically and mentally moved!!! Some of my most favorite short stories were Nadine's Husband, Slipping and Falling (my favorite),Deecy and Pheo and How I Became a Writer.

    Best of List

It's about time I wrote this review for my favorite book of 2000, and it happens to be a collection of erotica. Shame on me. Not really. If you read this book for the sex alone, you are completely missing the best part. Carol Taylor put together the best of the best. She was not going for big name writers, but for style, ability, and real heat. I was so engaged by the first story Nadine's Husband, # 4 Drag, # 6 Hail Mary Full of Grace, # 8 Slipping and Falling, and a couple of others that I realized what kind of talent was in this book and I spent the whole year trying to find what else my favorites had written. I wanted to see what they could do with more pages and more characters, like in a novel. Some of them were easy, but some were really hard to locate because they are still relatively unknown. I got about a half dozen of them really easy from my bookstore and the internet, and then I finally got All the Blood Is Red by Ross, The Harris Men by Johnson, and Push by Sapphire. Then near the end of the year, I finally got a copy of Allen's Hoochie Mama. That book was hard to find, but it is worth it, it is a complete trip. He writes again about a woman with tough decisions to make, just like he did in Nadine's Husband, but she's a cop this time. Good, touching, powerful, and it's a mystery story this time. It is wonderful to see that these authors are very talented with things other than erotica, especially Sapphire with the novel Push. That book is so good, it has me crying every time I think about what that poor child went through. What Carol Taylor did when she put these very talented people together, is she created a 'best of'list for those of us who like good Af-Am literature, not just erotica. All of these writers are talented, and they are all going to be big.

    Good Bathtub reading!!

Great short stories. Not too graphic, but VERY sexy. If you are into short to the point and detailed... this is definately a great purchase

    SEXY!!!!

I truly enjoyed this book! It was very sensuous, and definately had great writers. While I have never heard of many of them, I am sure to read more of their work as a result of this book. I liked the fact that it kept my imagination going in addition to having good story lines. Looking forward to more.

    Hot and Diverse

I could not wait for this book to come out after reading the write up on it in ESSENCE. It was very hot, beginning with the first story 'Nadine's Husband' (I was shocked to find that Preston L. Allen is a man, he writes so convincingly as a woman) all the way to the end. The book proves that black people come in all types sexually. The stories in it are mostly straight, as I am, but the gay ones are good too in their own way, especially Sapphire's. I read the whole book straight through in one night. I read it with a 'friend,' if you get my meaning.

    Other Things

This books is very good, very sexy. What I noticed that makes this one stand apart from the rest is that most of the stories are not just about sex. These are real good (or weird but interesting) stories. I found myself liking the characters a lot and hoping I could read about them in other stories. These writers should write novels. Reginald Harris is as good as E. Lynn Harris. Kwames Dawes writes like Colin Channer. Marci Blackman is the greatest--I don't know who she writes like. The first story in the book 'Nadine' is pretty good too, it is like a sexy, little, sad, sweet novel.
