Volume 1 and 2 of this series were so stellar, but the rest of the volumes have been a bit uneven and this is probably the worst so far. It is dark (read: depressing), but unlike other dark periods in the TV show and comics, it wasn't very interesting. My biggest criticism is that this seems to wipe away all the character development that has happened in season 7 and 8 - for example, Andrew is nearly seduced by Warren again (saved only by circumstance, not by sense) and repeats his video camera fantasy schtik which was cute for one episode of TV, but completely not worth revisiting. And buffy and willow seem to have lost all the lessons/maturity they learned since series 7. The art is not very good in this one (except the covers, which are awesome) - the Oz drawing doesn't look like the actor at all and neither does dawn. ---SPOILER ALERT: basically, the slayers keep getting beat up and killed and in their last hideout, they voluntarily give up their powers and then get attacked and have to fight with guns - boring and depressing. If you're not a rabid fan, just read the summary and skip this volume. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
