    Ok

Interesting to learn of the over-the-top life of Jania, however I did not care for Myra Friedman's writing style......a little too text-bookish to be entertaining.

    Insightful

Buried Alive is a moving and disturbing account of Janis Joplin's life. Written by her publicist, who knew Janis well, this book definitely shines a spotlight on Janis' erratic behavior and personality.

I was somewhat disappointed that the author glossed over Woodstock and Janis' participation there. However, it was well written and filled with personal observations and experiences with Janis as she traveled to stardom.

Smart woman writes about another smart woman

Having read every book published about Janis, Buried Alive was above and beyond the most interesting to read. Loaded with fact and inevitable drama, Myra Friedman (seems) to have accurately conveyed the reality of Janis'life and personal turmoil. She seems to feel protective of and exhasperated by the subject. Yet,as a responsible writer, she seems to not have polished, finessed nor refrained from conveying the harsh reality of the singer's life.I ripped through the book and think it would be super interesting to meet Myra Friedman; she writes very well.

    The best book about Janis

This is the best book yet about Janis Joplin her life and her legend.Myra Freidmans insights are deeply felt and thought provoking. Also gives a complete feeling of what it was like to live in the turbulent era that was the 60's.In my opinion this is the best book about Janis.Honest and unromantisied.
