All The Wonderful Songs The Movie Version Deleted

I don't know why Kander & Ebb permitted Bob Fosse - director of the movie version of "Cabaret" - to cut 8 of their lovely songs! Maybe it was money? Or perhaps the duo was in awe of the talented Oscar/Emmy/Tony winner?

But it was a bad, bad move. As good as the movie was, it could have been a great film if director Fosse obeyed director Robert Wise's principle, applied to his film versions of the musicals "West Side Story" and "Sound of Music", ..... DON'T TAMPER WITH A WINNER!

This is one of the great cast albums of all time. An experience.

I'll never forget when I first heard this recording on LP in 1966 . From the opening bars of "Wilkomen" to the closing Finale, the Broadway production of "Cabaret" seemed to take place right there in my bedroom. That it was only a longplaying 33 1/3 vinyl record playing on my "suitcase" style stereo is a tribute to the genius of legendary record producer Goddard Lieberson , who was able to transform a big Broadway Show into an unforgettable listening experience. Joel Grey's immortal Tony Award winning performance as the Master of Ceremonies jumps out at you from the speakers. The Kander and Ebb songs have lost none of their wit and bite since the show's premiere, and the newly mastered CD improves on an already brilliant sound recording. This Original Broadway Cast Recording is the definitive version of this great production and the one to own.

    My favorite CD is Cabaret

Cabaret is great. Every song is greater than the next. The actual Broadway show is magnificent. I urge anyone who has a opportunity to go see this musical. You will thank me later.
