Reminded me not to aspire to be a novelist

Because I wouldn't be any better than Rathbone, and he is NOT good. This is a very boring, predictable story. Characters are not at all well developed - some characters have no discernible purpose whatsoever. I will never pick up another novel by this author (nor wil...

I will never pick up another novel by this author (nor will I ever try to write my own novel, for fear that what I come up with is no better than this).

Couldnt get through it at all

I saw mixed reviews so thought i would give it a try hoping i would be on the side that loved it. Sadly that was not the case. I could not get through it at all. I finish books even the ones i cant stand. I gave up on this one about half way through. Very dissapointed

    Pathetic

The characters were not easy to relate to, the plot was boring, it was incredibly long and I'm still not sure what the point of the book was. It really is a waste of space.

Absolutely no comparison to Tolkien, Brooks, Rowling

Don't listen to the reviews comparing this to the Lord of the Rings or the worlds of Shannara and Harry Potter. There's potential in the story, but the writing is mediocre. I felt like I was observing at a polite and rather bored distance. The world was fuzzy, only coming into focus where characters were. Events jumped suddenly forward without the feeling of passing time - or distance. Characters were mostly two dimensional, and when they changed, it was sudden and drastic. It read like a creative writing project that needs a lot of work. Don't waste your time. I'm just glad I didn't waste my money.
