A great start to your new camera

This is light years above Canon's manual. I recommend reading through this, go shoot lots, and come back and read again. Thereafter use it for reference. A lot of good tips in this book.

Practical Approach For Getting Great Results with the Canon 50D

The book is all about teaching you how to take great photos using the 50D. Explanations are clear and sample pictures provide the kind of visual instruction you would expect from a professional photographer.

The author does not repeat the owner's manual; instead, he guides you through what you need to know (for taking great photos with the 50D) and provides many useful tips based on his hands-on experience.

I especially like his rationale for using the different features/settings of the camera within the context of his sample photos. IMHO, this is what makes the book a standout.

Wanted it to be more user friendly

The book definetly explains the usage of the camara, but for a beginner, I believe that it should be a little more user friendly.
