A smoking hot debut

Can't Stand The Heat by Louisa Edwards is a sizzling debut.

Food critic Miranda Wise doesn't let many chefs avoid her sharp tongued critique of their cooking skills. She mistakenly picks Chef Adam Temple as her next target.
But Adam turns the tables on her and agrees to let Miranda observe the workings of his kitchen at the restaurant called Market.

Adam Temple wants to make his new restaurant Market a success. He has gathered over the years a well oiled team and doesn't want anything or anyone to mess that up. He is willing to put up with Miranda in his domain as long as she doesn't interfere with their jobs. Once Adam discovers that the food critic can't cook he offers to give her one on one lessons. But these lessons start out about cooking but turn into a sizzling affair in and out of the kitchen.

Miranda is keeping a huge secret from Adam and his staff, will they be able to forgive her when it all hits the fan?

Can't Stand The Heat is a smoking hot debut. It turns up the heat when it's in the kitchen or in the bedroom. Adam and Miranda turn each others temperatures up to a hot sizzle with just one look. Their chemistry is sensational. The secondary characters in both their worlds add another layer to this charming book. I will be looking for more books from this author.

Sizzling

I really enjoyed this book on so many levels. It's got a great hot love story, recipes to die for, more information about how a professional chef runs his kitchen than an episode of Hell's Kitchen, and a sizzling secondary love story that made my toes curl. I'm really looking forward to the next one!

Sizzling. Spicy. Seductive.

CAN'T STAND THE HEAT is a beautifully written romance that takes place between a fiery food critic and a hot, temperamental chef. Water boils when these two characters are in the kitchen together! Edwards does an amazing job of blending a little Top Chef, a little Hell's Kitchen, and a whole lotta romance--including a heart-wrenching secondary love story that will stop your heart.

It's hard to believe this is a debut novel. I can't recommend CAN'T STAND THE HEAT enough.

Okay

I do agress with others that the main character is often annoying. Frankie and Jess are not only more belivable but more interesting and likable. Unfortunately it was a chore to read on spots as the Miranda was so unlikable one could not emphathise with her nor the situation.

Did I read the same book as everyone else? This story line was boring! Miranda was annoying and I hated reading her. If I had to choose I would rather read Jess and Frankie's story. I will not be buying or reading another book by this author. I tried someone NEW and I won't again! What a waste of money! To future readers, DO NOT waste your time reading this predictable dull book.

Good

good book, I'd recommend

This is a lighthearted culinary romance

In New York City, rejected wannabe author and food critic Miranda Wake attends the pre opening gala hosted by Adam "Chef" Temple to announce his new restaurant the Market. Too many aperitifs cocktails later, Miranda makes a public challenge that Adam reluctantly has to accept or his restaurant dies before it opens. She gets to write about what happens behind the scenes at a trendy new restaurant by being there for one month. Adam who distrusts women after Eleanor Bonning dumped him, but still treats Miranda like a shorter smaller imitation of Julia Child.

Meanwhile Miranda's brother Jess leaves Brandewyne College in Ohio to accept a job at Market in spite of the disappointment of his sister who was proud of his full scholarship. Although she wants to know why he quit, she finds herself distracted by her attraction to the Chef; he likewise begins making recipes in which his muse is the unpublished author. However, someone leaks insider information to the media with Miranda the mole the most likely suspect.

This is a lighthearted culinary romance as the Chef and the author blend love and recipes into a fun romp. The support cast is solid as her brother, the staff and other partners either enhance the lead couple relationship or bring out the goings-on at the restaurant. Although CAN'T STAND THE HEAT follows the sub-genre recipe, fans will enjoy the pizzazz flavors that Louisa Edwards brings to her warm tale.

Wild Heat In The Kitchen!

Miranda Wake is about to write the novel she's been dreaming about perfecting for a very long time. No more rejection slips, no more crushing disappointment! Attending a pre-opening party for Adam Temple's "Market" restaurant, Miranda has far too much to drink and not enough to eat, which leads her to issue an ultimate dare to Adam. Miranda has the press behind her and Adam can't refuse the dare without his new venture falling apart before it's even started. So Miranda is given permission to spend one month in Adam's restaurant and what a month it will be!

At the same time Miranda's brother, Jess, arrives in New York City and won't reveal why he left college out in Brandewine College in the Midwest. She lets it go for now and both wind up working at Adam's electricity-ridden restaurant. The slew of wild characters initially seem like the last thing one would expect in an eatery wanting to be labeled as serving the best cuisine in the country, but that's exactly what it is. The cooks and assistants are "out-of-the-box" who work like a dream together, and the descriptions of the food they are preparing will make every reader drool for joy and want to run out to find something similar to relish or somewhere similar to dine.

For these artists adore the taste and texture of exquisite food, choices and mixtures that titillate the palate and assure that those who enter will want to return over and over again to experience the same joyous experience.

But things get complicated because of the relationship between Jess and one of the other partners and Miranda doesn't know what to do about her novel when Adam begins to charm her with the lustiest, most passionate sex anyone could possibly imagine. An under-appreciated culinary student will add some unexpected havoc and an early leak of information could destroy everything that all have been so carefully and lovingly creating.

The description so far is only a tad of the action that is presented in a snappy, exciting, adventurous, and totally unexpected manner. Can't Stand the Heat... is one of the best light-hearted culinary, romantic novels this reviewer has read in a very long time! Grand job, Louisa Edwards
