    Great Firearms Reference

I recently purchased the most recent edition of Cartridges of the World to replace my well worn 25 year old edition. It had all the newer more recently developed cartridges that have been marketed in the last 15 years. Cartridge dimensions are given in clear drawings with a brief description of each as well as a concise story of its history and development. The author includes ballistic tables for each as well as testimony from users in the field. It is conversational and not overly technical in language. There is quite a bit understated humor by the author in the narrative portions.
This book is a must have for any firearms library and is handy as a quick reference for even the discriminating reloader.

Catridges of the World by Frank C. Barnes

This is one informative book. Highly useful if you collect cartridges or own obsolete military weapons. I think this publication is well worth the money.

    Couldn't get by without it

An excellent resource for firearms historians and enthusiasts as well as cartridge collectors and shooters. Barnes is a master in this field, and has been for years. Skinner sees it through periodic updates flawlessly.

As a novelist I find myself referring to it frequently. I wouldn't be without a copy on my shelf.
