*An important note - Cast in Sorrow is part 2 of 2 with Cast in Peril being Part 1 of 2.  Therefore, Cast in Sorrow is not a book to begin reading this series from!  I highly recommend the ENTIRE series!
Kaylin's life is never easy, even with The Lord of the West March present, completing her journey to the West March cannot be simple.  Kaylin has been chosen to be the Harmoniste and has an intrinsic role in the Regalia (a story that must be told).  A story that has the potential to heal so many and to right a wrong done so many centuries ago.  We are introduced to a whole new cast of characters, who make their home in the West March, including the Green.  Michelle Sagara has a magical way of putting words together to invoke the feelings of the characters, it is as if you are taking this journey along with Kaylin and the other characters.
Many questions will be answered in this book, including: Teela's background, who Nightshade lost, more about Mr. Small and Squawky, and some more information about why the Barrani are the way they are.   Also, in this book we see Kaylin grow as  a person.  She is more aware of the powers she holds and what is important in life.  A little spoiler is that she feels at one point that she owes an apology to Lord Diarmat (and we all know how she feels about him if you have read the series) and that the Keeper was right, that she should be careful of what one wishes for you may receive.  Yet, this doesn't stop Kaylin from rushing in recklessly and throwing caution into the wind.  Kaylin is very loyal to her friends and this is one of most endearing qualities.
The only problem with finishing of the Chronicles in Elantra books is having to wait a year for the next one!

I know that I'm the odd person out on this review, but I had trouble with this book of the series. I did enjoy the humor and antics of Kaylin's mouth overload. But I found the book very hard to follow at times and it was repetitive. I will look forward to the next installment for I do like this series very much, just not this book.

    Excellent as expected

Michelle Sagara has another wonderful story to tell! Kaylin and all the great characters of this world are back to excite and thrill you once again. Magic is being used around every corner in this series in which mundane, magic and mayhem are at constant war with each other!
