A Book that will sweep you away....

Catching Genius is an amazing debut by an author who really knows how to capture characters. I felt like I knew Connie and Estella by the end of the book and I was touched by the realistic portrait of sisters and of their relationship to their mom and dad. One thing I really liked about this book was the way it described the beautiful setting. I've never been to the coast of Florida, but now I feel like I have.... Laugh, cry, get mad... this book made me feel all these things. I'm adding Kristy Kiernan to my must-read list.

    Catching Genius

Kristy Kiernan's writing is so confident, so assured, it's hard to believe this is a debut novel. You'll be pulled into this story the moment you start the first page, and its characters will stay with you long after you've finished the last. Book clubs will love discussing this novel!

    A Beautiful Book

An intensely moving novel, yet filled with humorous moments and wry insights of the bonds between sisters,as well as mothers and their children. The authors obvious love of her native Florida transports the reader through deftly crafted passages. The sections on mathematics theory and the phenomenon of child prodigies are fascinating and insightful without being dryly academic. A must read and an instant classic that will delight women of all ages.

    Catching Genius

This is the second book I have read that was written by Kristy Kiernan. I love finding new authors to read and I am so glad a friend recommended her to me. Catching Genius is a complex story about relationships. The main characters, Connie and Estella are sisters who don't have much of a relationship at all. When the girls were young, Estella was labeled as a math genius. She is sent off to college at age 12. The girls, who were once very close, drifted apart. Now adults, they are forced to close up their mother's beach house before she sells it which makes them both very uncomfortable. They not only have issues with each other but both sisters are dealing with other problems in their lives. The story is told from the viewpoint of both sisters, dealing with their relationship now as well as their past. There are two sides to every story and that is very clear in this book. I look forward to reading more from Kristy.

    A Great Summer Read

I absolutely loved this book and it is one of my favorites. Especially if you have a sister(s). I am about to start my second time of reading this book and can't wait. It is moving and you can really visualize the book in your mind. If you love music such as cellos and violins or if you love numbers and math ... they use these topics in the book to relate to as well. I probably also loved it because it reminded me of when I lived in Florida. I recommend this book to anyone I meet!

    Great Beach Read!

I got this book on my recent Spring Break trip to the beach. It is so amazing, I found myself not wanting it to end! It is a PERFECT book to read on vacation, as it transports you into the lives of the characters and on their trip to pack up their childhood home on the beach. It is well written, intelligent and yet easy to read. I would definitely reccommend it, and hope to see more from this author soon!
