A Must Read Saint Book
Sigrid Undset does one of the best jobs of writing about the life of a Saint that I have ever read. Sigrid is a Nobel Prize winner for literature and she brings that talent in writing this book on one of the greatest saints in Church History - St. Catherine of Siena. The book will paint the picture for you, allowing you to put yourself in the scene. She also allows you to understand the times by highlighting certain historical events taking place during the era in which this most extraordinary saint lived. She quotes from the saint at times so one can see why she is one of 33 doctors of the Church. St. Catherine doesn't come off as someone who is above the crowd but as someone who was chosen by God and who answered that call but who still had to work on her own shortcomings. This book was a pleasure to read - I'm sure you'll think the same. I highly recommend it.
