Not for true knitters
I was excited when i read about the book online and thought it would be interesting. The photograghs were beautiful, however, if you are a knitter you would be disappointed with the book. The scarves were very simple, mainly the garter stitch only, and if you were looking for new and chic patterns this is not the book to get.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This book is being marketed to the wrong people.
Simply put, the folk at Vogue Knitting should have marketed this book to celeb watchers - not knitters. As a knitter, I'm bored with it. I do like to read about other knitters, but the bios in this book fell flat and the scarves were too simplistic. As a former fundraiser, I'm saddened that this book is such a dissapointment since it was created to raise funds for an excellent charity. Don't waste your money on this book. Send it directly to the charity instead. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Waste of money!
I am an under 30, fashionably hip knitter who has been knitting for less than two years and I found this book insulting! I really thought I was going to enjoy this book when I first heard about it, but I'm sad to report that it is a complete waste of money. Yes, there are one or two scarves that are pretty chic, but it's not worth the $25 the book costs. I would rather spend the money on some yummy yarn and come up with my own scarf pattern. You don't have to be an advanced knitter to know these scarves are BORING. There were about 5 scarves made in chunky/bulky yarn (like the red/white/blue striped one) that were so plain and unoriginal, I think my 5 year old niece could come up with something better!! I think your money would be better spent on books like 'Yarn Girls' Guide to Knitting' or 'Hollywood Knits'--books that offer something for beginners as well as advanced knitters. Was this review helpful? An insult to real knitters everywhere
I wish I could give this book zero stars, or even minus five stars, but one star was as low as I could go. This book is the worst kind of fawning-celebrity garbage that has invaded the world of knitting. First of all, the book should have been titled 'Minor Celebrity Scarves,' as the purported celebrities it profiles include a great many unrecognizable ones. Second of all, anyone who has knitted for more than a week can tell just by looking at the pictures that these scarves are predominantly garter-stitch scarves in chunky and/or novelty yarns. Allow me to save you the price of the book, should you be interested in making any of these scarves: cast on 15 stitches, knit every row, cast off. Vogue Knitting should be embarrassed to have its name on this book. Any decent knitter should be embarrassed to buy it.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
