    Musical info and more...

Hard to imagine that anyone could write 270 pages based on one composer's classical masterpiece, but THE CELLO SUITES, not only delivers interesting information about J. S. Bach, but also provides readers with an appreciation for the life of the extraordinary musician Pablo Casals. Like many of today's other media forms, the author uses multiple story lines to keep a reader entertained and also allowing the details and descriptions to be served at a comfortable pace. I liked this book, in part, because I enjoy both classical music and stringed instruments in my home, but also because the author does a fine job in presenting his fascination for a very interesting story with wonderful non-fictional characters. I would recommend this to lovers of Bach's classical masterpieces, and cellists especially. But anyone with even a vague interest in classical music history or who appreciates a good mystery with a touch of elegance would also very much enjoy their time spent with this lovely book.

    Fantastic read

This book is a great starting point for anyone whobwants to understand the Suites, regardless of if they are a cellist or musician of any skill. My cello instructor recommended this to me as a means of understanding it a little more for my own performances of the Suites. I recommend this book to everyone, maybe it will inspire someone to learn how to play or help them to understand why the Suites are so loved.
