This book was 500 pages long, but the story could easily have been told in 300 pages. It cried for an editor! The grammar was appalling. I learned the difference between to, too, and two in third grade; this author must have been absent that day, as well as when they discussed the difference between there and their. The characters were never developed, the author just used the first person for nearly every character to explain the action and further the plot. It was impossible to really care about any of the characters, they were so generic. Every character's reactions to the action were expressed in the most trite phrases and generalities I've ever encountered in a book. Many of the situations were frankly ridiculous; e.g., an unskilled foreigner who didn't even speak the language was appointed to review the legalities of proposed laws for a country's congress. The story could have been interesting if it hadn't been treated so inanely. -
