A disaster
I adored "Good in Bed" and was excited to see a sequel. I have never been more disappointed in a book. Not only does she ruin everything I loved about the original she goes and ruins Cannie's happy ending. Good in bed left Cannie on a happy note new baby, a good job, and a new love. This book does the opposite. I don't want to spoil anyone but for those who have read it know what I mean. I still love the writer and look forward to her books but who ever told her this book was a good idea needs to be slapped.

From Someone Familiar with Author
I've read two other of her prior novels, (it feels like forever), and about 200 pages into this one kept wondering if I've completely made too much hype for myself. I do give Weiner credit for taking me back through Joy's frustrations with an overprotective mother...but otherwise if it wasn't for a certain "event" in this book I'm thinking I'd give it less credit. I didn't expect the ending from a PINK book. I guess I expected a certain Elle Woods Blonde "Perfect Day" kind of story.

Bummer
After reading "Good In Bed" I was excited to find the next chapter in Cannie's life...but sad to say, this was disappointing. Made myself finish but the unexpected turn toward the end didnt even make me bat an eye. Really not a fan of this one.

Fun!
I had alot of "escape time" with this book-fun but not too frilly! I usually steer away from "girlie" books but really enjoyed this one, as well as, "Good in Bed" (recommend that you read that one first to fully enjoy "Certain Girls"). Above average plot, well-developed characters and enough "laugh out loud" moments to get me a couple stares on the Boston T! Every once in a while, we all need to be reminded that our own dysfunctional families are really not that out of the norm and how not to take ourselves too seriously in the process! The ending is a total "emotional blindsider" so don't peek if you want the full impact! Enjoy...it was worth the trip!

Audiobook version just okay
If you can get past the nasily narrator for Cannie's parts (which annoyed me many times during the slow parts) this book was okay. As a previous reviewer stated, this Cannie just didn't seem the same as the original. At times it felt like a Jewish religion lesson. And it was difficult to keep up with the real time and flashback parts of the story.

Heartbreaking
Buy kleenex when you buy this book. I really related to Joy's trouble with being a teenager, and Cannie's trouble raising her. This novel was slow to start out with, but got better as the novel went on. It kind of broke my heart to see how Joy treated Cannie, but it mirrored the way I was with my mother when I was younger. This novel will make you appreciate your mother...a great gift for Mother's day. This would be a great mother/daughter book club read.

one of my favorites..
In the sequel of "Good in Bed", Cannie comes back with Joy, Peter and Bruce. It's an amazing story between families.. mothers and daughters, fathers and husbands. I love this relationships between all of them. Cannie reminds me of myself quite a lot. Joy's and Bruce's relationship is splitting image of me and my father. Not even going to lie, the ending is going to shock you. You are going to have a very large box of tissues ready and waiting. I suggest anyone who loves a good read, and Jennifer Weiner to give this book a shot. Definite chick lit. :)

Never thought I'd see a sequel
...to Good in Bed. I bought this book because I was a fan of Jennifer Weiner. Now, I absolutely love her!! The ending was a huge, bittersweet surprise, but I was hooked. I don't usually care for "sequels", but this one felt appropriate and welcome. If you read Good in Bed, you'll identify all the familiar characters, struggles, and grand themes. A very good read.

This was ok.....
Jennifer Weiner's writing is getting more and more intellectually immature...each book is getting progressively worse. Her new novel, Best Friends Forever, was a real snoozer - go back to your roots - Good in Bed was a lot more interesting than the last couple of books. All of her books are way too predictable. Next time I'll check her newest out from the library instead of purchasing - it was a waste of money.

A Down to Earth TRUE chic lit Novel
Jennifer Weiner is an amazing and gifted writer. Her novels are entertaining, witty, and real. 'Certain Girls' is the sequel to Wieners best-selling novel 'Good in Bed'. This novel follows up on Cannie a good thirteen years later, with her daughter Joy. Tears will be shed, and anger may build but its a phenomenal story about a girl in the midst of growing up trying to find the meaning in her and her family's "dysfunctional" life. Read this novel! Its fantastic! All chic lit fans will love it!

Cant put down!!!
I loved the book Good in Bed, so when this book came out i had to get it right away. I could not put this book down every free min i had this book was in my hands. No other author makes you feel the emotions that this author does. I did not realize i would need a box of tissues you were right in the book feeling the way the characters did.
