LIked a lot
I really liked this free, self published book. It is a story about an orphan, Chance Fraser, who grew up working on the canals of Industrial England. He foils a kidnapping and rescues Emily, the young daughter of a wealthy family, but doesn't reveal himself to her. He meets her ten years later on a steamship and saves her from being killed as a spy. Chance then goes into the civil war and is captured in the seige of Vicksburg and is sent to a prison camp. Emily just happens to be there as a nurse and most of the story is about their chance encounters and his amazing life as he searches for her. It is a book where I really like the protagonist and his moral and upstanding values. There are quite a few other books with the title of Chance Encounters but this one is by Paul Telegdi and I got it free on my nook at B and N. I recommend it. I would actually give it a 4 1/2 star rating.
