    The 1st bad Connelley book....

I nearly always enjoy Connelley's books, esp. the Harry Bosch series. This one is entirely different -- I didn't care about the characters -- in fact, I found the protagonist merely irritating. The motivations for the actions were dubious. All in all, not a good book, barely fair.

I had a hard time staying with this book because it has so many

I had a hard time staying with this book because it has so many stupid scenarios that the character who has such high intelligence could get himself into the situation involving someone who he has never met

    more from this reviewer

Not up to his usual work

Totally annoying lead character, very hard to believe anyone who has the intelligence that Pierce must have would follow the path to obvious self destruction he takes. I will admit that the story got more compelling in the second half, but, I almost didn't get that far.
Very disappointing for a Michael Connelly novel.

    Just OK

I read through the book, and I was very uninterested until the last few chapters. If someone had given me a summary of the rest of the book, and I could have started in the end I would have loved it!
