i waited a long time for this to be re-issued and here it is. when i first started reading i was a little worried that miss catherine had changed her format, but i shoulodn't have. there is some violence, but it is muted. in this time period some things were accepted as the norm out west. deke is a better then average tracker and laura needs him to track down her son. he has been stolen by comancheros and she fears he is dead, as dead as her husband is, he after all only three days old. deke and she travel by horseback on the trail. laura becomes ill and deke needs help, to heal her. he calls upon is cheyenne family to help and they do, but not without hostility. after all at this time whites and indians were at war. deke is a whilte man raised by the cheyenne. her son is with them, but star has adopted him since her son died recently. black stone is 'brother' to deke. laura is eventually accepted by black stone and a marriage is arranged between deke and laura...this is truly a love story set in the 1800's, and shows the difference between the white and indian cultures of the time. it also shows how little say women had over their lives. men ruled everything, even their women. deke showed laura that it didn't have to be that way.. that the cheyenne respected their mates, and were not afraid to show them the love that they had for them. also where a white man might beat his woman, a cheyenne would never do that. this story had many lessons to be learned while the story was enjoyed. a true love story that will leave you wishing yours was like lauras. thank you miss catherine...i loved this one and you write one heck of a love story!!!!
