Whether you work with children, are raising children, or just plain love them, this book is a must read!
Once again Drs. Smith and Elliott have pulled together a vast and often contradictory literature into an enjoyable and easy-to-follow read! Child Psychology and Development for Dummies distills over a century of theory and research down to four core developmental tasks: relationship formation, emotional control, formation of a healthy self-view, and the achievement of one's potential. With these tasks as the organizing principle, readers will find it easy to make sense of the child psychology science and use it to best help the children in their lives. As a Clinical Psychologist, I appreciate Dr. Smith and Dr. Elliott's carefully attention to the science. As a parent and future grandparent, I appreciate their obvious empathy for the trials and joys of parenthood.
