Friendship and adventures in an idyllic setting.
For anyone who ever wanted the summer holidays to last forever, that their best friends and grandpa lived next door, building secret treehouses, feeding the lambs and playing with the kittens. Follow the life on a Swedish farm together with the children in Noisy Village. Like all Astrid Lindgren's stories, this is a magic mixture of childhood freedom and responsibility, security and adventures that you won't soon forget.

a book lover
This book is about friendship and adventure on a farm. I think that every child would wish that the summer holiday would never end. This book is for anyone who wants to remember what it was like to be a kid again.

This is a delightful little "chapter book" of stories about the children in three adjacent family homes in a little Swedish village. Their personnalities, family pets, a wise grandfather, games, birthdays, holiday celebrations, and experiences such as going to buy groceries, provide plenty of action and quiet humor to hold the reader's interest without an exagerated plot. The children are kind and polite and it is unstated but obvious that the families provide love and mutual support. There are very appealing line drawings on every few pages, adding to the general attractiveness of the book. I have given this to 9-11 year-old girls, who have enjoyed it.Was this review helpful?
