A Masterpiece
This book changed my life. Carlo Levi is a genius. I first read this book for a college course several years ago. I recently read it again while on vacation in Italy. Wow! Highly recommended. Also check out the new novel Cyclops Hammer by Dale P. Myers.

Christ Stopped at Eboli- A Review
I recently read the translated version of 'Christ Stopped at Eboli' by Carlo Levi. It is a masterpiece of world literature, and surely one of the greatest literary works of all time. It tells of the extreme poverty of southern Italy, and of the horrors that came along with Fascism. But, more importantly, it tells of undying human spirit in the face of the inevitable. The citizens of Eboli face each day with courage and optimism, even though they know that each new day brings new hardships. They work tirelessly in the fields, for little payment. They have little schooling, and for that matter, have very little to live for. Carlo Levi depicts the daily lives of these poverty- stricken people with realism and compassion. This book is a must read for everyone, no matter what nationality and walk of life.
