Best book in its day, and still has something to say
I use this for my undergraduate classes in Philosophy and the & Humanities. Eliot says the diverse contributors to advancement of major aspects of a culture are the primary determinates of its destiny, and must keep communication for the culture to grow. The major element at a mass level is the religious practices and attitudes of a culture. These articles bring together the main points of his message. When he received the Nobel prize for Literature he commented that Western culture had gone downhill steadily throughout the wars, but he hoped the future could be turned around. Was this review helpful?
