    Clapton Unplugged

A wonderful must-read for all Clapton fans. It is rare to read about a craftsman who is more interested in the finished product than the almighty dollar.

    more from this reviewer

    I thurouly enjoyed this book.

I had read his "New New Thing", Well written and researched. This one could have had more Eric Clapton in it. Entertaining. Taking the instrument to the Boston Red Sox to watch and describe Mammy Ramirez. it was classic sarcasm.

    Wonderful Americana

you might see the title of this book and that the person writing this book has to be a lunatic to think that anyone would CARE about this subject!! I thought this and I play guitar AND Clapton is my hero! I thumbed through this in the store and picked up and could not put it down!! This is a wonderful story of Americana that I think anyone would enjoy. I also learned quite a bit about a genre of guitar that I knew very little about. The author paints a wonderful picture of the building of the guitars by a master builder using great stories and anecdotes. If you like novels of real life, I think you'd like this book. I was dumbfounded by the fact that I liked it so much and not because it's about guitars and Eric Clapton. Now I want to go to Rugby, VA and meet Mr. Henderson.

    A Guitarist's Joy

This book is an amazing read, and if you love guitars you simply MUST read this book. Even if you don't play guitar, if you appreciate wonderful writing that tells a darn fine story, superb craftsmanship, and a few good jokes thrown in, you're gonna love this book! Allen St. John is a masterful writer with a stake in what he is writing about that makes this book a pure joy to read. I just finished reading the book and I feel that I know both Allen and Wayne intimately. And now, my desire is to get to know a Henderson guitar. Intimately! Wayne Henderson's guitars are sought after by people like Clapton because the instruments made by Mr. Henderson are works of musical art. There is also a 10 year wait! The first chapter tells the story of the author almost getting a Henderson guitar but fate wasn't with him. The guitar went to a guy I know named Bob Wright. Talk about 6 degrees of separation! I was totally floored when I read the story about how Bob got the guitar in the first chapter. I gotta get in touch with Bob, maybe he'll let me try the guitar out. Now how to get on the list...?
