I eat mostly vegetarian/vegan--but I often find it hard and tedious because of bland and boring recipes. I have read the entire Clean Food: A Seasonal Guide to Eating Close to the Source with More than 200 Recipes for a Healthy and Sustainable You and am very impressed and excited! (I made a recipe last night--more on that later.)

There are lots of exciting ingredients that interest me, an experienced cook. I love the layout of the book with one recipe per page in attractive but easy to read graphics. Beautifully done!

I also love the seasonal approach to cooking. I have been cooking seasonally for quite awhile now, and there is something that just feels so good about going to my local farmer's market, and buying and preparing that food.

Last night I prepared quinoa and black bean salad with apricot lime vinaigrette and it was delicious and flavorful, as well as easy to make.

I will report back soon, as I intend to make several more recipes.

If you are serious about cleaning up your diet for the health of the planet and yourself, consider cleaning up your home, too. As an eco-friendly designer, I must impress how important it is to remove all toxins from your life. Here are favorites:

HARMONIOUS ENVIRONMENT: BEAUTIFY, DETOXIFY & ENERGIZE YOUR LIFE, YOUR HOME & YOUR PLANET Show how to live in a clean, non-toxic sanctuary.

IN DEFENSE OF FOOD: all about the food in our country and how to eat healthily.

Gimicky

The title leads one to believe that there might be more here than the average food book. The illustration is nice, the cover divine. The pages lack insight, depth and the obvious expectation of the reader looking for something NEW. Same old, same old. Don't buy it; ...

    more from this reviewer

    Great Book!

I've been using CLEAN FOODS for weeks now to make my weekly meals. Have to say, I really like the outcome. Nothing to complicated here, prep and preparation time is reasonable. And...I am always relieved once I've tasted the finished dish, that I haven't wasted my time preparing it. Solid and reliable. This is a great book to give someone who still eats meat and poultry...excellent alternatives for those who need conversion.

    Clean Food

Excellent book!! Super easy recipes. The only thing I do not like is that there are absolutely no pictures!! ??? But otherwise, I absolutely LOVE this book. Would highly recommend to all who want to eat healthier and the recipes are all vegetarian.

A great cookbook for a newbie!

I am fairly new with eating a mostly plant based diet. I like the explanations and base information she offers. It is true that to follow these recipes you need to do a little hunting for some ingredients up front. That is OK with me because I am looking for a new way to eat and ways to make my veggies taste good. I have found that I just have to look in a different section of my regular store to find a lot of this stuff. I have found nearly everything at the health food/farmers market store on my way home from work.

So far, I have liked every recipe I have tried. Of course I am hand picking to begin with. Best part is that I am learning how to flavor up meals with a whole new bag of tricks. Like all good cooking, the prep time takes longer than throwing a lean pocket in the microwave, but they are not out of line. I am even learning how to plan ahead. While you are cooking tonight, soak some beans or sprout some quinoa for tomorrow.

Best part of this is my wife even likes the way these tasty meals turn out.

WOW! Veggies never looked or sounded so good!

I am blown away by this "cookbook". It is so much more than a cookbook. It explains in easy to understand terms why we should pay more attention to veggies and our diets. It is a beautiful book, inside and out. I can't recommend this book enough!! Being a yoga teacher I knew some of this material, by Terry Walters went so far beyond! This book is a must have, and a bargain at any price.

    Eco-Vegan Friendly

The point of view in this book is much appreciated by this eco-vegan person. This book is a welcome addition to my cookbook library.
