All clergy need to read this.
This is a must-read for all persons preparing for ordained ministry and clergy serving congregations. The 'Clergy Disease' (original title of the book) has been infecting congregations and pastors through unhealthy codependency and unreasonable expectations for far too long. As a 'recovering' clergy, I am thankful for Pastor Lehr's honest and helpful assessment of the problem and his insights into the process for healing. I found the brief surveys and checklists for personal assessment of codependent behaviors, spiritual maturity, and boundary maintenance to be particularly helpful. Appendices to the book include study guides for clergy groups and congregation councils or personnel committees. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. A good book for any pastor who wants a more balanced life or a great gift for those who value their pastor's well-being. The author goes through the most prevelent personality types ministers have, explains how these personality characteristics can make them prone to behaviors that lead to poor mental and physical health, and then gives help for recovery in a faith-based manner. Was this review helpful?
