Not the book it was supposed to be
This was supposed to be an Edgar Wallace mystery. Instead it was a Christian lit story entitled "Cloudy Jewel." It is the story of a maiden woman who has always taken care of others. When her mother passes away, she is expected to go live with her younger, married sister to be a nanny and maid in exchange for room and board. Instead her orphaned teenage niece & nephew come and ask her to be their adopted mother and set up house with them while they attend college. The plot is rather sappy, but the real problem with the story is the contrived issues made to show how heathenistic her niece & nephew are (they don't like church and they don't like doing nothing on Sundays) and about her struggle to convey God's message of damnation to those who do not keep the Sabbath holy. Though I generally do not read Christian fiction, I do not have anything against it provided the story is a good one. Unfortunately this one isn't.
