Essential reading for professionals
I am a psychologist and a parent of an adult with Asperger's. This book provides suggestions that are grounded in research and practical to carry out. Dr. Gaus writes in a clear and concise manner. Case examples are provided to clarify the application of concepts. This is the most clinically useful book I have purchased in the last five years.

A great resource for clinicians as well as for adults who may have Asperger Syndrome
I saw right away that this book was different. The author is a practicing clinician who has worked in several different contexts, most notably working individually with hundreds of people diagnosed as having Asperger as adults. This book weaves the author's personal journey with rich descriptions of the people she has encountered with a thorough review of the professional literature to form a unique resource. As an academic, I appreciated the research basis for her comments. As a recently diagnosed adult with asperger syndrome, I found the rich descriptions of the people with whom she has worked very helpful in understanding my own situation. More importantly, the intervention strategies she suggests have a solid research basis and are helpful. I wish that the clinicians with whom I have worked had been required to read this text as it would have saved us all quite a bit of time.
