Unique retelling of King Arthur
Sarah Woodbury offers a new spin on the Arthurian legend. Joining the Welsh king in the waning years of his reign, it follows the knight Myrrdin and the ex-nun he rescues, Nell, as they find their destinies - and the fates of Arthur and his kingdom - intertwined.
The pace is brisk, and the time-bending presentation fresh and suspenseful. You grow to truly care about the characters Nell and Myrddin.
However, you are often left craving a bit more information, a bit deeper exploration of the characters and their pasts. And the ending comes off a bit abrupt. I literally thought there was a mistake and kept trying to turn the page.
Then again, wishing the story didn't have to end is the sign of a good yarn, and I would recommend this for a good historical page-turner.
