Not the Greatest and not the Worst

When I first picked up this book, it didn't exactly hook me. But, I paid for it and it takes a LOT for me to quit on a book, so I read on...and after a while, I was enjoying it. Hope is a bit negative and refers to herself and her family as "broken" a lot, which slightly annoyed me, but all and all, I was glad she was the main character. I especially loved how Hope and Ash, her "savior," bickered instead INSTANTLY falling for each other like in every OTHER YA book. The author definitely gets brownie points for that! The plot was a bit bland in my opinion. Actually at first, it seems like there is no plot at all and the whole book is about Hope and Ash arguing (which is funny, but if there's not plot to really support it, it gets old). But then, *cue dramatic music* Ben Hastle, the story's antagonist comes in and most of the rest of the story is about Hope trying to figure out why Ben and Ash hate each other. The author did a good job making you want to figure out Ash and Ben's feud, but I felt that Hope figured out the reason for it a bit too easily and that the climax was a bit random. The author did choose to end the book very well and realistically, though...which might disappoint people who like fairytale or sad endings, but for me, it was pretty satisfying. In the end, this book isn't the greatest...or the worse. It's a good read for young adults who like a nice, calm story--so don't expect it to make you cry like at the end of My Sister's Keeper or be as lovey-dovey as Twilight. If you're thinking about buying it, for $2.99 I defintely would. No, this book isn't action-packed or suspenseful. Yes, it takes a while to get into it. But I felt even with all that, it was a worthwhile read and I wish I could rate it 3.5 stars! (>_<)
