...but I really didn't like this one. I have read several different explanations for vampirism, but I think the one in this book is pretty strange, sort of jarring. Vampirism came from ancient contact with aliens? And the scenes of Ian's tortue in Asharti's hands... I can deal with gore and I enjoy sensual and sexual scenes, but the torture scenes in this book were too many for me to handle. I understand that they were to set up simpathy for Ian, villianize Asharti, etc. but I would have preferred them to be fewer and less graphic. I wouldn't even have finished reading this book after I got halfway through except for the fact that I'm weird about always finishing a book, even if I don't like it. I would suggest you pass on this one and look elsewhere for entertaining vampire fiction.
