Very Authentic!
When I was in grad school, I was in a dorm with a Sri Lankan guy who cooked the most amazing food. I asked him if he learned to cook from his mother. He answered, 'No.' In response to the puzzled look on my face, he said, 'When I came to the States for school, my mom bought me this cookbook.' So then I asked, are the recipes authentic? Is it as good as your mom used to make? And he answered, 'Better.' I was sold. I went out and bought The Complete Asian Cookbook a.s.a.p., and have never been disappointed. Whether cooking Indian, Thai, Indonesian, Japanese, whatever, every recipe comes out great! And my Indian and Chinese friends? They can't believe I know how to cook 'their food' the right way! (This review refers to the 1992 printing.)

Beautiful and practical!
This is a terrific book to look at and cook from. There are beautiful, mouthwatering photos to go with the mostly authentic and always scrumptious recipes. I've cooked mostly from the Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Korean sections but I plan to try recipes from other regions.
