    An Absolute Must Have Compendium.

For anyone who enjoys crochet, whether novice or advanced this book must be in your library. 500 stitch patterns will keep you busy for years with hundreds of crochet designs. Everything is very well written and concise. One of the best features is that each stitch pattern is shown in full color making it easy to compare your work to the book's photos. At the front of the book there is a how-to guide for the basic crochet stitches such as single, double and triple crochet. The accompanying photos show exactly how each stitch is made so that even a beginner can understand them. I also found it to be a great refresher for stitches I hadn't used in a while. The book isn't geared per sé toward a person with no experience in crochet but such a person could use this guide to learn all the essential skills and set them on the way to making beautiful crochet work. If you are a beginner don't be daunted by the book's size, it really does give you everything you need. After the stitch guide you'll find a guide to the international crochet symbols which is a tremendous resource. With each stitch pattern there is a guide showing how all the stitches come together forming the pattern and being able to understand the symbols is a must. Armed with this symbol index you will be able to avoid mistakes and be able to easily spot any if do make them. This was my first encounter with these symbols and I wouldn't want to work without them ever again. After the symbols guide there is a thumb-nail pictorial index of all the book's patterns. As indexes go this is an excellent example. It's easy to browse through all the patterns to find one you like or to find a pattern again if you've lost your place. I find this index another indispensable resource in this book as it gives a full color picture and page number for each pattern. After that index you begin the section on the patterns starting with single crochet and working up from there. I see it as working from the easiest patterns to the most complex which is a very logical layout. The beginner may want to start here and it won't be long before you have the confidence to move along to double then triple crochet and so forth. Each pattern has a large, full color picture of a complete stitch for comparison to your work. There is also the symbol guide showing which stitch come next and how each one is arranged in the pattern. The last component of each pattern is the line by line direction for the pattern with which any experienced crocheter will be familiar. A beginner can get frustrated with these line-by-line directions because much of the content is abbreviated, but fear not, the guide to basic stitches found at the book's beginning contains the meanings for all the abbreviations. There isn't a glossary in the book but if you come to an abbreviation you don't understand simply go back to the basic stitches guide to find its meaning. Overall, this crochet pattern compendium will find much use. The book itself is also well made to handle all the use it will get. It's a hard-bound book and each page is made of heavier, glossy paper allowing the book to withstand years of use. For the price, you just can't beat this guide. I can't say enough about how happy I am because I bought this book and I'm certain that if you decided to own it, you'll be happy about it yourself

    Lot of patterns

Being a crocheter for 30+ years, this is one of the BEST crocheting books I have ever seen. The only problem with it - trying to decide which pattern to use. It is overwhelming to see all the different beautiful patterns. I plan to purchase more for gifts.

    Sensacional

This book is the best! I'm a crocheter for a long time and I've never seen so many beautiful stitches together. It's like a 'theme park' for me. I highly recommend this book to everyone that loves crochet. Even if you're starting. Great book!
