Many cake decorating books claim to be comprehensive or encyclopedic, and then cover only one or two decorating styles. This amazing little book actually provides an introduction to techniques as diverse as buttercream piping, molded candy decorations, rolled fondant, run sugar, air brushing, and many, many more. Each topic is covered very briefly, but with impressive attention to essentials. There are whole books written about decorating wedding cakes, and this book has only four pages on the topic, but it manages to convey all of the basics clearly and concisely. Each of the 16 lessons in this book gives sufficient instruction and pictures to guide someone new to the technique to successfully complete a project. This is a good starting point for trying out techniques, and deciding for which of them you'd like to get more specialized books. I find this book to be an excellent value, worth more than many books I own that are longer and more expensive. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
