I'm a busy mom like most and rarely make time to sit down and actually read a book anymore. However, something about Confessions of a Scary Mommy grabbed ahold of me and I couldn't put it down. In the course of a day, I read the entire book from cover to cover...it really is that good. Jill Smokler's approach to motherhood is honest, refreshing, and will have you racing to the next page. What I really love about this book is it's ability to say "yes, parenting is hard, but it is so very worth it."

I was so disappointedvwith this book. I was hoping for a funny and insightful read about the challenges of motherhood. Instead, it read like a blog. The writing was choppy, disjointed and at points a bit rambling. There were a few humorous parts but overall she went for the obvious laugh and it was not very insightful.

In short, I was sorry I bought this book.

    The truth, unveiled

This is a hilarious look at real life motherhood - not the fairytale image that some super moms want to portray. It's the nitty, gritty, down and dirty details of what women really think about motherhood. I found myself shaking my head in agreement and laughing out loud at the brutally honest comments that mothers contributed to Jill's blog. Great read if you're feeling like you can't quite live up to the perfect ideal image of motherhood. You are not alone!

    more from this reviewer

do yourself a favor, and READ THIS!

OMG! I am so thankful for this book. It normalizes every feeling I have ever had as a mom, and especially a stay at home mom, and those feelings run the gamut all over the place. I laughed, I cried, and sympathized. It is un-put-downable.
