    Excelente libro

    Es un libro sobre el Puerto Rico del ayer las centrales azucareras esclavitud y amor .

    Extremadamente Desilusionada

    Quise leer este libro en base a la premisa y el marco histórico y geográfico de la novela. Lamentablemente la seriedad del libro se pierde con tanta descripción sexual innecesaria y excesiva. En particular por tratarse de relaciones perturbadoras como por ejemplo el incesto entre dos hermanos gemelos. Mi conclusión es que la "experimentación" que transcurre durante el primer acto de la novela esta ahí simplemente para impactar o atraer a la audiencia en lugar de querer explorar la sexualidad humana o los traumas sexuales, lo cual hubiera sido una razón mas válida. Francamente, parece un intento débil de revisar la historia y mostrar que en el pasado, la gente era tan experimental y permisiva como somos ahora. Por ejemplo, la protagonista nunca cuestiona su propia sexualidad a pesar que disfruta con mujeres y hombres. Ella tiene una actitud de "todo se vale", lo cual es poco creíble en una chica criada en un convento español en el siglo 19. Mi otra conclusión es que la autora esta queriendo decirnos que todos los españoles que llegaron a América eran criminales o pervertidos. Ninguno de los personajes era querible y los pocos que me simpatizaron, murieron. El final es tan obscuro que no sentí que hubiera un "pago" para el lector después de tanta tragedia. A pesar que disfrute la atmósfera y el marco geográfico, a ratos parecía que estaba leyendo un libro de texto (demasiada exposición) además era difícil recordar a todos los personajes (en particular a los esclavos). Le di dos puntos porque a pesar de todos sus defectos, seguí leyendo para saber en que terminaba.

    Highly recommend it!!

    I read it in Spanish. It gave me a historical view of our heritage!! Boy those Spaniards were horrible.
