As an early childhood professional that focuses on children's so

As an early childhood professional that focuses on children's social-emotional development (and the parent of a 4 yr old)I highly recommend this book.  We need to be encouraging children to understand individual differences because that is what makes each of us unique.  Ms. Egan's book does a fantastic job in helping children understand that families too can be different and that love and understanding are what is necessary to help build children's self esteem and self confidence.

I have personally shared this book with my daughter's preschool classroom and I also recommend it to teachers I work with professionally to help support children's social-emotional development.

    Great book for ALL families!

I wish there were more books out there like this one! It teaches children, using metaphors and language they can understand, that all types of families exist and none are better than the other. This message is so important in this day and age when so many children are being bullied and harassed for being different. I think it is the responsibility of every parent, educator, care taker, etc. to teach children acceptance and this book is a wonderful tool to do so!

    Great educational tool!

I wish this book was around when my children were young, but I will share it with my grandchildren in the future. This is a wonderful teaching tool that all schools should be utilizing. Kindness needs to be an open discussion, this book opens the doors for that to happen. It is also a wonderful educational door opener for the anti bully topic, in a world where children are suffering from peer abuse this book educates the youth early on. Thank you Jennifer Egan for this wonderful piece of work!
