    Compelling

"Counterpoint" is the compelling saga of three (so far) generations of a Midwestern family with Scandinavian roots. It is divided into two sections, the first focusing on patriarch, Lars, and the second on one of his sons, Quinn. The family's fascinating story spans the U.S., Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific.

I really enjoyed this novel. I found it to be well-written and a real "page-turner", holding my interest throughout and building to a suspense- and action-filled ending in post-World War II Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

I understand that a sequel to "Counterpoint", presumably dealing with other family members, may be in the offing. I am keenly awaiting its publication.

    Highly recommend this book!!!

Counterpoint is a must read for any adventurer, any wanderer, any thrill-seeker. The first book delves into the memories and reflections of a father looking back on his life, feeling his mortality, and relating the stories of three generations of his family. You'll need this background on the family of characters because in Book 2 they take flight, thrilling the reader in their cross-cultural, cross-continental adventures. Each character comes to life in exhilarating, yet honest, dialogue that keeps you riveted to the closing paragraph. I, for one, am anxiously awaiting the next book. Samantha's full story has yet to be told....

I loved this book. It's a must read for anyone who loves family, travel, and falling in love.

In his first novel Pearsall captures a naïve yet promising window in U.S. history: the 1960s, seen through the eyes of the young and bright Quinn Norquist. Like many Americans, Quinn is the product of hardworking immigrant grandparents who settled in America, started a business, and raised their children to be good and hardworking citizens. In Counterpoint Pearsall's rich descriptions of Quinn's coming of age in San Francisco, Norway, and Singapore return the reader to a time in life when all things are possible. As Quinn navigates his way through young adulthood, Pearsall's specific descriptions of place and heartfelt dialogue between characters transport readers back to their first job out of college, the excitement of new love, and discoveries of traveling the world for the first time

    Very good.

Not for reader looking for grab you by the throat or fast action seeker. I enjoyed it but wished to have read about Jaga in America. I am moving on to read about Sams life.

Long & drags on, long past where it should have ended.

This should have been 2 separete books. One about a Norse family and another about counter espionage.
