I loved this book from the time I first read it. It grabbed me somewhere in my heart. I did not realize until decades later, when I bought it for my daughter, that it is truly an early feminist book. The MOTHER bunny prevails over the larger white MALE bunnies who had always been chosen to deliver the baskets to children around the world. The country bunny is a single parent of 21 bunnies. One could interpret the book as dealing with racial issues. Prior to the country bunny, the first female, all the chosen ones were not only male, but also WHITE. The country bunny was both female and brown. I buy this book for any new parents I know. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
