I enjoyed this book. The romance was a bit abrupt. I like to see it played out a bit more. But it was good. I like that the heroine wasn't all that young or gorgoeus and the hero wasn't some super super-rich alpha-alpha male. It is very different from Troy's Once Upon A closet, which is more a funny, silly romantic comedy. There are a few funny moments in this, and a few that made me tear up, but it is very much a romantic suspense. Might read it again some time.

    Excellent romantic suspense!

How far would you run to escape your past? For Serena Kowlachuk, it is to the remote mountains of Alberta, Canada where she hopes her simple life along with her faithful hound, Ranger, and four horses can banish her nightmares forever.

Life has a funny way of upsetting even the best laid plans though. When she pulls injured helicopter pilot, Connor Branson, from a fiery crash near her home, she has no idea she has unwittingly alerted her past enemies to her presence. Time is running out. Can she keep Connor safe while she tries to eliminate her enemies once and for all?

FEAR OF FLYING is engaging from the opening pages where we are privy to Serena's inner thoughts. I immediately wanted to know more about her and her past life. What had happened that made her shut down her emotions completely? What was she running from?

The author does a great job of slowly revealing Serena's back story while keeping the reader fully engaged with what's happening between her and Connor. Even injured, Connor exudes sex appeal. He is like no one Serena has ever known and she struggles against any interactions beyond nursing him back to health. The sexual tension between Serena and Connor is palpable - a living, breathing thing of its own. Throw in some bad guys out for revenge and you've got a thoroughly enjoyable romantic suspense story. Recommended.

What's more dangerous - narco thugs or a man in love?

This is one of my favorite kinds of romances - intelligently written with well-done quirky secondary characters. I loved the main couple, but I really hated the villian(ess). Sheesh. The author has a gift for setting - I felt like I was in the northwest wilderness without realizing I was reading description. It has kind of a Northern Exposure feel. Loved it!

    Highly Recommend

Nice romance, a little suspense, likable secondary characters and I love the dog. I could see another book written to expand on the lives of the town people and to continue the story of the two main characters. I would buy it. JudyE

I really liked this book. I loved that the main character is a strong woman who lives alone, fending for herself. I've often thought about just leaving it all behind to do what Serena does. It didn't hurt to know that there is more to Serena than just a single woman living on her own in the wilderness. Sharona Troy did a great job setting up the romance to make it believable. I prefer books with some meat to the relationship instead of nothing but sexual tension. Though, the sexual tension in this book is a lot of fun.
