Warning--if you want to remain a fan of Artie's, do not read this book!
I wish I had been warned. I was a long time fan, loved Too Fat to Fish, and have been rooting for Artie all along. This book is a far cry from the incredibly vulnerable, considerate of others Artie portrayed in Too Fat. This book is chock full of redundancies (and I'm not just a sour grapes Red Sox fan-- Artie describes the term "psychotic Red Sox fan" as redundant). I lost count of the number of times he describes how many pills/drinks he needs to stave off withdrawal--at least EVERY chapter; and the number of times he mentions having bought his mother a house and a car. If this book is a clear representation of how he treats friends even when sober, I'm surprised he has any at all.
