Months have passed since the terrible accident that left Auden injured and Lia aware of how much better it would be for everyone if she just left and never made contact with her old life again.

She makes her way to Jude and his band of thrill-seeking Mechs. For a while, life is good. She has plenty of credit, she lives in a mansion surrounded by other Mechs, and has access to several bootlegged med-tech downloads. Lia is even in charge of tours around the estate for newly downloaded Mechs considering making it their home.

Lia doesn't trust Jude, but she accepts him as the leader of the group. When he insists she travel with Riley to a Corp Town to meet with his source for the bootlegged material he has been smuggling into the mansion, she doesn't have a choice. While she is there, the unthinkable happens, leaving her and Riley on the run.

Battle lines are drawn as Savona breaks away from the Faith Party and establishes the Brotherhood of Man, an organization dedicated to protecting the sanctity of human life. Savona instills fear in his followers in an attempt to start a revolution and force BioMax to halt production of future Mechs and limit the lives of the ones currently in operation.

Lia gets caught up in the cause, but as plans become more and more dangerous she begins to have second thoughts. How far can she follow Jude? Is she willing to allow him to go as far as he wants to go? Is she willing to end lives whether they be Mech or Org, to protect her own life? What will she do for the ones she loves? In the end, Lia must choose where her loyalties lie.

CRASHED is a wonderful follow-up to SKINNED. The world Robin Wasserman creates is creative and fascinating, and even though the main characters are mechanical, many still find a way to be dynamic and evolve during the story.

CRASHED is the second in a planned trilogy, and I for one can't wait for the conclusion.

    Refreshing

Crashed is about a girl named Lia who dies in an unfortune accident in a post-war world. But before she could die, BioMax uploads her brain into a "mech" body, aka skinner. She is still Lia but her life is not the same anymore. The touch of her skin, the way she looks, and even the sound of music isn't the same anymore. This is book two in the Skinned series which explores how Lia has come to cope with a tragic accident that happened at the end of Skinned, book one.

I have to say I enjoyed Crashed much better than the first book, Skinned. Robin Wasserman is able to go into more depth with her character Lia and how her new life is progressing. Which it truly isn't though because she will never die. The struggles between the orgs and skinners is becoming more aggressive and I expect an amazing third book. I would recommend the first book (Skinned) to everyone just so they can read Crashed and enjoy the exciting ride Lia takes.

    much better

I was so disappointed with the first book, Skinned. I was scared to read this one, but once I started to read it, I didn't want to put it down. Riley is by far one of my favorite characters that I've met since I started to read. I like that Lia isn't a complete opposite of the bratty rich kid she used to be, but isn't selfless and sacrificed for him towards the end. This second book was a huge improvement!

Great Sequel To A Great Book

I could not put down this book. I bought it the second I heard it came out and was not disappointed one bit. It is imaginative, thought-provoking, intense, and all around well-written. It doesn't dwell on the identity crisis of the book before it, but resolves it with a new spin. I really enjoyed it and find that this series could definitely have potential for mind-blowing debates.

    Bursting with anticipation

It's somewhat unreasonable to write a review when a book hasn't been released yet. I felt I had to, though. First, I don't understand why some people disliked Skinned so much. Lia is a brat in the beginning, fine - but we have to remember that during the novel, she experienced a massive change in family, friends and the world she lives in. Robin Wasserman achieved this superbly, despite her character being first person, which is very difficult to write. But Lia saw things from all angles. Or she had help anyway, from Auden and Jude.

At times the book dragged on, but that was only a tiny thing. The cliffhanger ending was simply cruel, because it just left you hanging.

Overall? I expect Crashed to be just as excellent as Skinned, if not better. I anticipate more high-tech action, too. Seeing as Lia and the mechs are almost indestructible =)

    Hoping.

Okay, I really, really, hated Skinned. But mostly because of the ending. Thats's why i'm pretty happy theres gonna be a sequel, because the first book really annoyed me to no end.
So i'm hoping, and praying that this one's better..
