    Great Read

Carolyn Simmons and Brody Creed had a brief, tumultuous relationship until a late night telephone call took him out of her life eight years earlier. Now he's back, but the hurt he caused and her lingering doubts remain. Can these two hurting souls move beyond a dark secret and a bitter past to reach a happy future?

Brody Creed likes life on the move, and for the past eight years he's done just that...on the rodeo circuit. When he finally returns to Lonesome Bend, his attempts at reconciling with his twin brother Connor are rebuffed, but Brody has ties to the land and at last plans to settle down and run his half of the Creed ranch. He buys Tricia McCall's deceased father's run-down RV park and despite his estrangement from Connor, he begins construction on a house and barn on the property.

Family ties run deep, so Brody and Connor, who has now married Tricia McCall, are often dinner guests at their uncle Davis' and Aunt Kim's home, as is Tricia's and Kim's close friend Carolyn. Past hurts make Carolyn wary; she usually tries to escape seeing Brody, but as her biological clock ticks on, she comes to understand the Creed bad boy still has the power to turn her world upside down.

Ms. Miller delves deep into the human psyche to bring a story of love, loss and redemption in the lives of Brody and Carolyn. Filled with doubts about herself stemming from years as a neglected foster child, Carolyn cannot allow herself to trust, and Brody must come to terms with a secret that up until now, he's been unable to discuss. He must set aside his guilt in order to be the man Carolyn needs.

Another great story in the Creed series. Wonderful characters, dynamic dialogue and a setting that will make you want to move to Lonesome Bend. You will love the way these two needy characters dance around the truth, pretending their feelings are not on parade. Their epiphanies make for a thoroughly satisfying read.

True to form, Miller does not disappoint with this latest in the Creed series. Miller does a great job creating a story with combined passion and frustration. Western romance readers will love this one!

    Sensual Yet Sweet

Brody Creed has something to prove-he's just not sure to whom. Most likely it is himself. Having made some difficult turns in his life, things didn't always work out how he'd hoped. And he's put up so many walls his own twin brother doesn't know that Brody is a widower and lost a child as well. All his family and the town of Lonesome Dove know about him is that he roamed the rodeo circuit for a decade before finally coming back home. Maybe that's how Brody should keep things, but then there is one little lady who deserves more of an explanation for how he treated her years ago. If she can forgive him, there may be hope to mend his sore heart.

Carolyn Simmons knows all about being a rolling stone. She just never thought she'd be on the receiving end of someone else's moving on. Brody Creed broke her heart into little pieces once-when she was most vulnerable. She's not about to go back for seconds, regardless of how attracted she is to the man. Once Brody had given her a taste of what being loved and part of a family could be like. That will have to suffice unless her little foray into internet dating pans out. Anything not to let Brody Creed get too close.

Once again Ms. Miller's mines the hearts and souls of her characters to strike at their vulnerabilities so as to make them stronger in the end. Brody Creed acts a good game, but deep inside he is hurting and all the bravado in the world won't cure that. Carolyn is scared to open up, yet afraid that loneliness is all she'll ever know. Together these two must learn about trust before they will be able to experience love. Sweet and sensual, this romance is all about the healing aspects of true love.

    Great Wrap Up!

The Creed Legacy was a great wrap up to the Montana Creeds Trilogy. You are happy that the brothers are able to clear up their past and move on to be the close brothers they should have been. You are also happy that Carolyn finally finds the love she always deserved.

    Romantic & Sexy

Tick. Tick. Tick. All Carolyn Simmons can hear is the ticking of her biological clock. It's been eight years since that low down good for nothing cowboy ripped her heart out and tromped on it and she still isn't over it - or him. Oh, that Brody Creed! Who does he think he is, anyway? He thinks he can just waltz back into town and take what he wants! Well, Carolyn is not up for the taking!

Brody Creed knows that it'll take a miracle to change Carolyn's mind about him but maybe a bit of work and some good old fashioned charm will do the trick instead.

    Good!

I liked this new series from Linda Lael Miller.

I was up for jury duty and they said to bring a book so I purchased Steven and Conner's books -- my first Harlequin books and I was hooked.

I'm not into the explicit scenes but there seems to be only about one per book which can easily be skipped and she does use the Lord's name in vain -- if you can skip over like I did the stories are solid and the characters are fleshed out well.

    Light, fast, and entertaining reads.

    Disappointed

I have always loved Ms Miller's books but this series left a lot to be desired. maybe she's run out of stories to tell. The story lines seemed to be warmed over retells.

All Hail the Queen of Western Romance

Bad Boy, fearless but far from rootless Brody Creed has come home to Lonsome Bend to roost for good. After years of separation from his kin he's got a future to plan and a past to make up for and with the help of the family who loves him still and always and one special woman he just may just complete "The Creed Legacy".
Carolyn Simmons has been left before, first by her mother and then by the only man she's ever entrusted her heart to, Brody Creed. Well now he's back and he's staying and he's making it clear he wants another chance. Well run she won't, Lomesome Bend is the only place that's ever felt like home. So bring it on Brody, she's a big girl now and she's staying too. Is the town big enough for both of them or will one have to cut their losses and leave.

Ms. Miller has cowboy romance down to a science and her equations always mean some jean wearing, horse riding boy will go after and get his girl. In this novel she continues the story of The Creeds of Lonsome Bend Colorado and she takes off where Conner's story ended with the long lost son Brody. How she makes these characters seem so down to earth is a mystery as they're usually larger than life and rich beyond means, but she makes them humble but never meek and someone you might just run into at the local diner or Cattleman's dance. She does this with her decisively western drawly dialogue fully equipped with ma'am, shucks and the like, but in doing so she really brings the west alive for her readers, with the country manners mixed with home on the range narrative where the cowboys and cowgirls don't mind slinging a few four letter words along with the hay. Where the scenery is an equal star with the characters. And the characters will all dig themselves deep into the audiences heart. Her hero Brody is a complex man with a heart of gold that he disguises behind his rough attitude. Her heroine Carolyn is every readers idea of the perfect combination of beauty and brains with the saddest of tales to tell. The romance is my favorite, second chances and the author takes that extra step to make this one memorable by putting in all the mistakes they must overcome from the past. The love scenes are not tame, there's no mask for these very earthy scenes that are intense and adult and very well done.

So come back to the higher elevation and continue the story of this prominent, enigmatic and very prolific family brought to us by one if not the greatest author of contemporary western romance, and don't forget she writes a mean historical western romance too.
Thank you Ms. Miller for another exciting adventure staring characters that I will remember long after the last page is read.

    Good conclusion!

Review by Jen: This story is supposedly about Brody Creed (as the series has been following the Creed clan), but really, the star of this book is Carolyn, his love interest. Carolyn is a complex character and one that you're just drawn to. She's lead a hard life, first being abandoned by her mother, then surviving the foster care system and then leading a "gypsy" life -- floating from one job/place to another, but never really settling down. But when she lands in Lonesome Bend, she found a place she can call home and hopes to settle in. She's become friends with the Creed clan and even had an affair with Brody years ago, but he broke her heart when one night he just disappeared. Now he's back and the attraction between them is still blazing and he's pulling out all the stops to try to win her back, but she's afraid to trust him again.

Now, not to say Brody don't have his complexities. I mean, he did have his reasons (and pretty honorable ones at that) for disappearing on Carolyn. But being hard-headed, he doesn't just tell Carolyn what happened... no he just sets out to seduce her. Granted, he's really good at the seducing or romancing or whatever you want to call it, but so many of their hurdles would've been cleared if they'd just talked about their past. But, that said, the book would've also been over way too soon, so I shouldn't complain too much.

I enjoyed this story. It was a good conclusion to the Creed trilogy (and now I need to go back and read book 1). Linda Lael Miller has written another heart-warming tale.

    Lost Her Punch

I own 44 titles of Ms. Miller and I love her books. However, she is letting her passion for animal rescue (dogs cats and horses) take away from her awesome talent in this trilogy. If you took Winston (the cat) out of this book it would be 3/4 of the size. And the retired Thoroughbred gelding that was saved but nobody could ride was a wasted insert. The rescued dogs did not add to the story or the romance. Also, it seems unrealistic because dogs don't get a lot of attention on farms and ranches (although hopefully they get good care) and Ms Miller is making them part of the family. LLM is an awesome talent and I hope she gets back to doing what she does best - developing plots and characters of the human sort. I did like the twin brothers and the cousin in the trilogy and overall enjoyed the stories.
