This was a great book. In the previous books, Jordan touched lightly on the relationship between Lan and Nynaeve. Finally, they have gotten married. I was also curious as to how things would fall out between Min and Rand and also Elayne and Avendia. This book reaches deeper into topics it had touched only lightly before. I have heard many complain that the time between the books is too long and I do agree, but I do ask one question. Can a man right a 900 page book, get it revised over and over again and get it all published in less than a year like everyone wants? Just a small question. :-)

This series has lost its shine and the plot veer too much into unnecessary side tracks, smoothing of skirts and inconsequential story about the yapping of the Aes Sedai or the Wise Ones. The entirety of the book could have been compressed into 2-3 chapters. The ending seems to be an after-thought (trust me, it's an anti-climate how Sammauel is taken care of) and yet again, the 3 female characters are a constant annoyance. I'm reading it to completion yet to see how Brandon completes the "plot". Sigh...

    Problem

I have a problem with the book. When I put it down, turn it off, it goes back to page one and doesn't remember what page I left off on. I haven't had this problem with other books.

Not the paperback I was looking for.

I wanted the paperback, not the "trade" paperback. Was disappointed in that there is no option other than hardback or trade.

Not Even Enough To Keep Me Interested

...and that's really sad, because the first few books were so great. I couldn't even finish this one. I felt like Robert Jordan was just regurgitating the same old stuff all over me, and it reeked!!! There's good new and bad news. The good news is that the next book is much better. I didn't actually buy it, because I swore I'd never buy another Jordan book (yes, this one is that bad,) but a friend bought it for me for Christmas. I was not thrilled, but I read it when I was desperate and ran out of other authors. The bad/sad news... you can skip this book and read the next one and not miss a thing!!! It's almost like watching a soap opera... it takes several 'soap opera days' to equal a real world day... **Sigh**

    Making Money?

My wife and I have been fascinated with the creativity and imagination of Author Robert Jordan in the Wheel of Time Series. We we're disappointed with book five, The Fires of Heaven in that there seemed to be a lot of rhetoric and unnecessary dialogue. Book Six, the Lord of Chaos picked up somewhat in parts but still seemed to drag. My wife was the first to complete this book A Crown of Swords and asked me what I thought upon completing the last chapter. Our thoughts were not surprisingly the same. We've lost interest with the added characters and 'from out of no where' plots that seem to have taken a once fun tale to a ho-hum, lets make some money off the popularity of the first few books. I'm afraid we've bought the last book, the story just isn't worth the price anymore.

    huh

So far in this series this has been the slowest book, it seemed very slow in the development of the story and was a little frustrating to read. It was nice to get back to that world for a while a be reunited with everyone. I think if this book were a standalone it would not have been a very good seller. I think because of the way we have been brought into this world and everything we have gone through it was ok. hopefully the next one has more meat.

    What a disappointment!

All my friends who read Robert Jordan's books along with me told me not to read this book, but I couldn't believe that after all those other great books he would mess up. It was a disappointing experience to see a terrific author with so many good books produce a book that didn't 'go'anywhere, no plots were completed satisfactorily, and I finished the book with a feeling that it was a total waste of time. I think he should finally start winding down to a conclusion- and start a new series!
