If you enjoyed the Mercy Thompson (Moon Called book #1) series by the same author then this series will be a pleasure to read or listen to as well. I will say that someone else wrote that one should read Prowl first (several stories by different authors to include Patricia Briggs), which I ignored... I should have listened! I did feel like I was dropped in a story with the first several chapters missing so Prowl is ordered. You will not be lost since enough is discussed that you get the just but I enjoy knowing the details of the charactors and how they met. If you are the same read Prowl first.

    more from this reviewer

Had a hard time reading this one

I was really excited to read this book after reading the Alapha and Omega short story. However, this book was really hard to get into even though I read the the first book. I felt like there were charcters that I should have known about but I had no clue who they where. I was lost. I had to stop reading the book after 100 pages. Maybe someday I will re-open the book and start over.

Confusing...didn't even get to the next chapter

I wanted this book because it looked interesting but when I got it I regretted it and wanted to return it.It was confusing and in the beginning of the book it starts off in the middle of things.I'm sitting here like what the heck is going on?I still decided to read on and see if it lead to anything.Yet it didn't.I would not recommend this book to anyone including people who don't want to come in the middle of the story.

    I Also Recommend:

    Very disappointing

I have read all of Patricia Brigg's books. They were all good, some have even jumped on my all times favorites list. So I eagerly anticipated this new series. It was extremely disappointing. The characters are definitely interesting but the story itself is slow and not very interesting. I was forced to put it down several times so I wouldn't fall asleep. Maybe if i hadn't read her other series like the Raven duology, the Hurog books, and the Mercy Thompson series just to mention my faves. maybe then i would have been able to tolerate this novel but as is, the bar had already been set too high and this novel falls short.
