There are several things I love in a book- likeable female detective, setting in the south, and sexy man thrown in for good measure. Our heroine, ie., pseudo-detective in this story did not have the sense to come in out of the rain. The setting was wonderful, or would have been if the author had taken the time to thrown in some descriptions. I can only say this reminded me of the old tv detective who constantly said, "just the facts, mam". Everything was so rushed there was little thought to building depth of character or description of setting. I would say that it was like a deaf person watching tv, but I think the deaf would have had an advantage as they could see the scenery and see the characters reactions and emotions. It read like an outline for a novel without the story being fleshed out. I give it a B for plot, but a definite D- for development. Oh, the sexy man, he gets an A+ but even he could not make up for the rest of the flaws.
